Is TaxiMeter Pro completely free?▼
Yes, TaxiMeter Pro is 100% free. No subscription fees, no hidden charges, no ads. The app is completely open-source and available at no cost.
Does TaxiMeter Pro require internet connection?▼
No. TaxiMeter Pro works completely offline using your device's GPS. All fare calculations and trip tracking happen locally on your device. No data is sent to any server.
Is my data safe and private?▼
Yes. All your trip data, rates, and history are stored locally on your device. We don't collect, store, or transmit any of your personal data. Your privacy is completely protected.
How accurate is the distance measurement?▼
TaxiMeter Pro uses GPS and the Haversine distance calculation algorithm, which is highly accurate for distances up to several kilometers. Accuracy depends on GPS signal strength—it's typically within 5-10 meters in urban areas.
Can I use TaxiMeter Pro in any country?▼
Yes! TaxiMeter Pro is a globally compatible app. You can use it in any country and set rates in any currency. The app works with any GPS-enabled smartphone.
How do I set my own taxi rates?▼
Click the "⚙ Settings" button below the wait time meter. You can edit three components: Base Fare, Per KM Rate, and Waiting Time Rate. Your settings are saved automatically.
What is "waiting time"?▼
Waiting time is when your vehicle is stationary or moving very slowly (under 3 km/h), typically in traffic. TaxiMeter Pro automatically detects this and applies the waiting rate instead of the distance rate.
Can I pause and resume a trip?▼
Yes. Click the PAUSE button to temporarily stop the meter, then click RESUME to continue. This is useful if you need to stop for a break without ending the trip. Click STOP to officially end the trip.
How do I view my trip history?▼
Click the "📊 History" button below the wait time meter. You can see all your completed trips sorted by date, fare, or distance. Each trip shows complete details including fare breakdown.
Can I delete individual trips?▼
You can clear all trip history at once from the History modal. Individual trip deletion isn't available yet, but you can clear the entire history and start fresh.
Does the app work without GPS?▼
The app needs GPS to track distance and speed. Without GPS, you can only use the trip timer, but distance-based fare calculations won't work. Always ensure GPS is enabled.
What if GPS signal is weak?▼
In areas with weak GPS signal, distance calculations may be less accurate. Try moving outdoors or away from tall buildings. The app will continue working but with reduced precision.
Can I change the date format?▼
Currently, dates display in ISO format (YYYY-MM-DD). We're working on adding customizable date formats in future updates.
Is there a web version?▼
TaxiMeter Pro is currently a web app accessible from any browser. In the future, we'll release native iOS and Android apps.
How often does GPS update?▼
GPS updates every few seconds (typically 2-5 seconds) for real-time accuracy. The app continuously monitors your location and updates distance, speed, and fare calculations.
Can I export my trip data?▼
Currently, trip data is stored locally. Future versions will include export features (CSV, PDF) for better record-keeping and business analysis.
What should I do if the app crashes?▼
If the app crashes, all trip data is safe (stored locally). Simply restart the app. Your settings and trip history will be preserved. If you experience repeated crashes, clear your browser cache.
Can multiple people use the same device?▼
Yes, but all users will share the same settings and trip history. If you need separate records, consider using different browsers or devices.
