How TaxiMeter Pro Works
A complete guide to using TaxiMeter Pro for accurate taxi fare calculation and trip tracking.
Enable GPS Permission
When you open TaxiMeter Pro for the first time, the app will request permission to access your device's GPS location. This is essential for accurate distance tracking.
Why GPS is needed:
- Measure actual distance traveled between two points
- Calculate speed for speed monitoring
- Detect when vehicle stops (waiting time)
Configure Your Rates (Optional)
Before your first trip, you can customize the taxi rates in the Settings modal. Click the "⚙ Settings" button below the wait time box.
You can set:
Base Fare (LKR)
Starting charge
Per KM Rate (LKR)
Charge per kilometer
Waiting Rate (LKR/min)
Idle time charge
Default rates are LKR 100 base, LKR 80/km, and LKR 5/min. You can change these anytime from Settings.
Tap START to Begin Trip
Click the green "START" button to begin tracking your trip. The app will start recording GPS location and calculating distance.
What happens when you tap START:
- ✓GPS tracking begins continuously
- ✓All meters show 0 and start counting
- ✓Real-time fare calculation starts
- ✓Waiting time auto-detection activated
Monitor Real-Time Metrics
As you drive, watch the live update of all metrics. The app continuously updates distance, fare, speed, and wait time.

Tap STOP to End Trip
When you reach the destination, click the PAUSE button (or STOP from the dropdown). The app will stop GPS tracking and generate a detailed receipt.
When you tap STOP:
- ✓GPS tracking stops
- ✓All meters freeze at final values
- ✓Receipt modal appears with full breakdown
- ✓Trip automatically saved to history
View Receipt & Trip History
After each trip, a detailed receipt is displayed. All completed trips are saved in your trip history, which you can view anytime by clicking the "📊 History" button.
